I am a trained Infant Massage Instructor and completed my International Association of Infant Massage training in 2007. For the last 10 years I have been delivering baby massage courses in Children's centers, parents homes and group settings.
Working with children and families has been my passion and career for over 15 years, starting out as a qualified Nursery Nurse. I begun my career providing child care both here and abroad. In 2006 I joined a Health Visiting team as an Early Years Family Health Advisor a role which involved supporting and advising parents with everything from behaviour and sleep to feeding and potty training.
Inspired by a love of working with families and helping children, I went on to complete my Paediatric Nursing Degree at the University of Southampton in 2012. During this time, I realised my passion for helping people was not limited to short periods of time they spent in hospital and so I made the decision that my skills were best utilised out in the community, supporting families in their own homes.
So I continued my training by completing my Post-Graduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting) in 2013.
My education was concluded in 2016, when whilst heavily pregnant, I completed my Masters in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing, where I chose to write my dissertation about Colic and its impact on social isolation.
After having my first child in 2016, I decided that I need a more flexible role to fit with my child care and so the journey to setting up my own business began.
Whilst on my own maternity leave, I found I loved attending baby groups and spending time supporting other new parents, as they supported me. So much so that when my little girl was just 8 weeks old I began volunteering for the Winchester NCT, running their Bumps and Babies group. This experience helped me decided that there was a need for centrally located Baby Massage classes and so Tactile Tots was born. I am now Chair of the Winchester NCT and you will often see me volunteering at our many fundraising events.
As both Tactile Tots and my daughter grow, it is my hope to begin offering massage groups aimed at older and more mobile babies, combining songs, massage and a sensory experience.
Additionally I hope shortly to be able to offer a private Health Visiting service to compliment current NHS provisions. This service will offer one to one support on a range of health and behaviour topics, specialising in a Colic Support programme.
